Eaglesfield

Clients were introduced via family friend and building for the first time were keen to build a home that was uniquely theirs, made the most of the expansive views and sun and would endure for many life stages to follow.

From the oversized garage and attic storage to the large picture windows, everything was considered and debated on the way to arriving at the final project. As you walk down from the bedroom wing to the living areas, you step down into an expansive entertaining area with vaulted timber ceilings and views from every corner. The Port Hills summit view from the window seat takes in morning sun through the central dining area opening out onto a Western terrace and the main living room has a lower ceiling to feel snug. There’s an adjacent media room that can be adapted as a short term fourth bedroom and a hidden study with it’s own motivating view South to the Alps.

Bedrooms are spacious and cleverly separated for maximum privacy whilst the master enjoys a private outdoor terrace for late evening winddown. The steep gables and use of dark cladding with timber accents ground the home in its natural surroundings and anchor the home at the top of the hill, it belongs here.

Client testimonial.

Pringle was the first company we spoke to based off a recommendation from a friend. We gained a lot of confidence at our first meeting with Callum and didn’t feel the need to shop around.

We felt the initial consultation was upfront and honest. We went in with an idea of what we wanted for our site and Callum gave us three options – our original idea, the original idea with some changes and a new plan designed by Callum. These were all awesome and met our brief but Callum’s design was so well thought through and made the most of the site and the view. It was a no brainer.

Callum made every decision easy but also challenged ideas that wouldn’t work and encouraged ideas that he thought would. It was an iterative process that led to some awesome features in our home but also gave us lot of trust in Callum and Pringle.

The key thing we appreciate about our home is that the design compliments the section. We have a sloping hill section and our living areas and master bedroom make the most of the view while also maintaining a decent area for landscaping and outdoor living on our northern aspect.

Internally, the high ceilings in the kitchen/dining and the ply panelled ceiling are a favourite.

We had a lot going on through our build process including selling our current house and welcoming a new baby. Once the plans were confirmed, we had meetings arranged for us for interior design, bathrooms, kitchen etc. Meeting with the respective consultants and having their input and advice made making decisions feel easy and fun while still having control over each aspect of the design. The ease of this phase impressed us when we had a lot on our plate.

We never had any concerns with the build because the communication was excellent. We met the project manager and builders on site several times for updates. Calls and messages were always promptly responded to and regular meetings on site throughout the build were easily arranged. We loved the weekly updates with photos on builder trend. This app was also a great way of keeping tabs of the build timeline and how we were tracking financially.

Variations to the contract price were minimal and we are very happy the build came in near the original contract value. Jase and Callum were very helpful in discussing any design changes throughout the build and all client led variations were welcomed and priced fairly. We found the entire experience a positive one.
